FBJ regularly landing in top three in these comps, but they want to continue to let her have a "never on the block" record. Okay then.

❛⠀ ironman is short. you are... you.. look at it this way, you can infiltrate villain middle school and the evil headmistress is not gonna raise an eyebrow, you should really work on that, from one professional to another. ❜⠀ and it is in that same spirit of professional courtesy that peter doesn't rest his arm on her head. he was tempted, though, she'd be a perfect fit and boy was he tired. @strangewonderful
"i'm not—" she's rocked back on her heels, like having taken a physical body-blow, and yet leaned forward at the same time with her arms spread widethe kind of cartoonish pose only possible due to her powers. "people always think i'm six! i'm just short!" they need to have a very serious talk about how people in the superhero community seem to think it's impossible to do any good if you're less than, like, six foot one. it's getting a little out of hand.

Hi lullabyes, would u mind sharing your take on the flashback with young Silco, Vander, and Felicia? :O
It's adorable. It's touching. It's sweet. It's a serene moment of intimacy and family (or polycule) bonding in an otherwise deeply frenetic season.
It's also so surreal it may as well be a fever dream.
I should note, at this stage I've shut off my cognitive reasoning about Arcane and begun approaching this as if it's a series of exquisitely crafted, animated short films that are all about to collide into a beautiful disaster.
Because that's what it is.
S2 has thrown a lot of the intelligent plotting out the window to embrace the chaos.  Whether due to time constraints, intellectual fatigue, or creative indulgence, I feel like we have a show that's now just hurtling breakneck towards the finish line. Previous story threads that once held weight and were the driving force behind character arcs and subplots, have since been abandoned. Nuanced motivations and character growth are being tossed to the wayside for the sake of action, montages, music videos, and a cavalier, anything-goes approach to world-building.
And yet, it's still such an incredible spectacle to behold.
@ravenkinnie delightfully noted that she is now watching this show with her pussy.
I agree 100%. S2 is a full-body experience, and one I find myself wholly consumed by. It's like a one-night stand you weren't expecting to be so fucking good. And when the sun comes up, you know it's going to hurt to say goodbye, and there'll be no follow-up call.
But damn, you enjoyed the shit out of that experience.
So yeah, the flashback was fucking adorable. I love the genuine emotion and closeness between the three characters. I adore the idea of Felicia, Silco and Vander being childhood friends (or, again, a very messy polycule) and both men sort of falling apart without her Manic Pixie Dream Girl presence in their lives. It's a nice little character arc.
However.
I cannot reconcile this scene with the rest of S1. It feels completely disconnected from the reality of the show and the world around them. The flashback has absolutely no impact on the current events, nor does it have any foreshadowing. The flashback exists solely to provide us with a glimpse into the past, with sweet little parallels to serve as bonbons that make us coo and sigh. It completely glosses over Silco's deeply, blackly visceral hatred of Vi in S1, reduces the class struggle culminating in the Day of Ash to "Oh, Silco. If only you've protested for your basic civil rights in a peaceful manner instead of tossing a molotov cocktail, you'd still have your family, a place in the community, not to mention your eye," does not really explain why Benzo reacted to Silco's appearance by calling him an animal, and, most importantly, gives the lie to the entire dynamic between Silco and Jinx.
We were led to believe that Felicia's death was the catalyst for Silco and Vander's falling out.  That if Silco had found Vander's letter in their little Brokeback bunk, they would've worked out their differences and found peace together. That they'd have raised Felicia's anklebiters side-by-side as the Zaundads of the revolution.
Except Silco is also the man selling Evil Anime PCP (Shimmer) as an economic cheat-code to earn respect for his people, and Vander is basically Captain Centrist and traumatized by war, and there is NO WAY they would've seen eye-to-eye on their respective methods. There's no way they would've come to any sort of accord. And there's no way Silco would've forgiven the man who mutilated and left him possibly sheared of half his lifespan, any more than Felicia's children would forgive the man who killed their mother.
It's such an incongruous narrative beat.
Which brings me to the other point:
Silco and Jinx.
imo, while I love the idea of Silco carrying either a secret torch for Felicia, or seeing her as a sister he'll always love, and while I absolutely treasure the idea of Jinx being a daily reminder of what he's fighting for - "I'm doing this for us, Jinx." - it sort of cheapens the key connection between them. In S1, Silco and Jinx's arc is, in my eyes, one of the best things about the series, and so incredibly well-written and executed. Silco is a monster, yes, but his monstrosity is the product of systemic and individual trauma, and the inextricable bleedthrough between the two. Finding this little girl and bringing her up under his wing, he has the chance to be the steadying hand and safe harbor he lost after Vander's betrayal. His monstrousness is not something he inflicts on her; it is something that, rather, grows on JInx like a kudzu vine, as the terrain of her damaged mind is already fertile for his worldview and methods to take root and thrive.
He is, perhaps, the best example of nurture triumphing over nature, even if his nurturing is rather, uh, extreme.
But if their bond is predicated on Felicia, rather than two strangers finding each other in the wilderness of heartbreak and learning to let their black hearts beat, messily entwined, as one family unit, and if Silco's obsession with Jinx is merely a projection of his guilt for killing her mother, and, by extension, a projection of his love for Felicia onto her daughter...
It's just.
Do y'all remember those uncomfortable frames that the showrunners admitted were deliberate, despite the evidence in the written text suggesting a familial bond? The subtext that, all the way into S2, carries the implication of a romantic relationship between a father and his daughter?
Well.
The implications now threaten to melt into explicit text, and the uncomfortable frames have turned into Unfortunate Implications, and I am not sure how I feel about this.
It's not giving Lily and Snape; it's giving Sansa and Baelish.
It's giving the showrunners a big, fat "YEESH" rating from CPS.
And it's giving us the same, old, tired trope of a monstrous man unable to form an attachment unless it's through the lens of prior attachments, that whole 'You remind me so much of her' and the like.
(I also admit I am the world's biggest hypocrite as the entire premise of Forward but Never Forget/XOXO is that the core foursome of Vander, Silco, Lika and Sevika knew each other, and that those ghosts haunt the machinery of the present day. But I try my damnedest to make plain there's politics buffeting all these relationships, and despite all their efforts to claw at self-sovereignty, reinvention and a new order, the past is a stubborn bitch that refuses to let go.)
(Also in FnF, Silco is triggered by Lika rather than into her in any affectionate or romantic way, because they're so similar: pragmatic survivors who aren't above rule-bending to get their way, and at their core just want a smoke break, a stiff drink, and a nap. It's a mutual respect rather than an affection, which is why she bestows on him the dubious honor of mercy killing her if she's too wounded on the Day of Ash to continue on.)
(He's the one person who could, and would, do her the service. It's kinship, and Jinx is the bright torch of their shared ambitions and ingenuity given both wing and voice.)
But anyway.
The flashback is a fever-dream. The kind you have when you're high on cold meds and can't think straight, and the world is a blur of sensations and memories that seem vivid in the moment but melt away into madness when you're better. It's a scene meant to be savored rather than interrogated. And I think if the showrunners had the time and inclination, we would've gotten a second episode solely dedicated to the flashback, rather than shoehorning it in. But since they're clearly trying to tie everything up with a neat bow before the finale, I don't blame them for having to skim past it and focus on the vibes/emotional resonance rather than the substance of a meaningfully written scene.
But hey.
Fanfic writers will have a field day with the open-ended dynamic and the fandom will never fucking stop, so that's nice.
Also we got loads of fantastic gifs of Young Silco. Bless.
<3
tl;dr: I've switched my critical brain off and decided to just enjoy the ride. It's so fucking epic.
Also, Felicia was delightful and I hope her brotherhood/polycule/whatever with Silco and Vander gets its own spinoff, a la Road to El Dorado (or Zaun.)

Gossip between Father and Daughter – Father!Alastor x Daughter!Reader
A/N: I decided to do this Oneshot/Headcanon for both, alive!Alastor x daughter!Reader and Demon!Alastor x Daughter!Reader. Enjoy ! (Picture belongs to rightful owner !)
TAGLIST!: @meg-giry1  @wen01203
WARNING!: mentions of the S word, name calling, insults, mentions of cheating, Vox and the other Vees get bullied in public AND MORE ! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!
Tumblr media
Human!Dad!Alastor x Human!Daughter!Reader:
When you start to talk about new Gossip:
Alastor was cooking Dinner as suddenly you bashed open the door, scaring the living daylights out of your Father. He quickly looked at you and made a face to scold you.
“Mon ange (My Angel), are you planning to give your dear ol’ Father a heart attack ?”
You ignored his scolding and gave him a big grin with a twinkle in your eyes. Alastor got intrigued.
“You will NEVER believe what I’ve heard, Papa ! That is some interesting tea indeed !”, you announced happily.
Your Father cocked his head to the side in curiosity, his smile not leaving, but it shrunk in curiosity and confusion.
“Oh ? What happened, Cher ?”
You entered the kitchen fully, pulled out a chair, sat down and looked at him.
“You do know Felicia Monrue, right ? You reported about her last week in your Broadcast, because she got caught drunk, even though there was no giggle water (Alcohol) allowed and she had to pay a hefty debt as punishment.”
“Ah...yes, I do remember her indeed. Hoho ! Such a gal getting caught.”, Alastor laughed out in humor, “Couldn’t even hold her own liquor, hahaha !”
You nodded eagerly.
“Well guess what !”
“What is it, mon petit (Little one) ?”
You looked around the house, as if anyone was listening in, then bounced and gave him a big mischievous smirk.
“Rumors have it, that she was spotted a few times with different men on her arm. She brought them home and someone heard lewd noises, while one of her neighbors swore they saw her and the different men in her bedroom, doing the forbidden act ! Can you believe it ?!”
Alastor took a sip of water, which he promptly spat out in shock, as you said that. He stared at you, then looked at his glass of water, then at the food he was cooking, then back to you and back at his drink.
“Am I sure that I am drinking water right now ?”, he muttered in shock.
“You are, Papa ! Stop being so silly !”, you replied laughing.
He looked at you again.
“You aren’t talking nonsense, right, Dear ? That poor Lady surely could never do such a scandalous thing.”
You shook your head.
“I really heard it, from more than one person too ! It already goes around like wildfire, Papa ! One even said that they have a picture of it ! If this gets out into the newspaper, her clothes store will shut down forever !”
Your Father shook his head and looked at his food, sighing in disappointment.
“Such a fine Dame and no class... Didn’t her parents teach her any manners ? How scandalous !”
You shrugged your shoulders and gave him a grin.
“Maybe it is just a faux, Papa, but it would be entertaining if it was true ! Don’t you agree ?”
“It sure would be, Cher. Anything else you heard rumors about, hmm ?”, your Father asked you amused.
“Oh ! There are new rumors about the Bayou Killer too.”
“Oh, do let me know ! I’d LOVE to hear their theories !”, your Father said enthusiastically.
“Some speculate now that it is a butcher and others that it is a doctor ! How ridiculous is that ?!”, you said laughing.
For a second the kitchen was silent and then Alastor broke out into laughter and he shook his head.
“A-a WHAT now ?! Hahahaha !”
Alastor laughed so hard that he wiped a tear away from his right eye. You looked at your Father in amusement.
“Stupid, isn’t it ? They really think you are a Doctor or even a Butcher ! I mean...you kind of are a Butcher, but at the same time, you are not !”
Alastor snorted in amusement and continued to cook Dinner, while you told him all the Gossip you heard and he discussed it all with you, happy to listen to anything you heard.
When Alastor starts to talk about new Gossip:
You were just returning from a quick shopping spree with some groceries as you saw your Father with a huge mischievous grin on his face. He took a few bags from you and you both started to fill the kitchen cabinets and fridge with your catches that you got from the stores.
You knew that glint in your Father’s eyes. He heard something scandalous and amusing. You couldn’t wait.
As soon as you both finished, you entered the Living room and sat down on the couch, your Father sat down in the armchair.
“Alright, Dad, spill the tea. What rumors have you heard, hmm ?”, you pressed.
Alastor looked at you with one of his hugest smiles and started to chuckle.
“Do you remember Gwen Kosiak from my workplace, who quit his job not long ago ?”, your Father asked you.
“Yes. Why ?”
“Well my dear child, he was married and they seemed happy. Suddenly they divorced out of nowhere. Rumors have it that he cheated on his wife with the housemaid !”
You covered your mouth in shock.
“No way !”, you gasped out.
“Yes indeedy !”
You started to let out a chuckle.
“I would have never expected that from Gwen.”
“Me neither, Cher ! Me neither !”
You both chuckled and as it calmed down, your Father smirked.
“There has also been the rumor going around that the dress shop, you love to visit so frequently, is going bankrupt, because the owner of the store refuses to pay the rent !”
You stared at your Father gob smacked.
“Seriously ?”
All your Father did was nod.
“Indeedy !”
You leaned back in shock, then your face saddened.
“A real shame, guess I should look for a new favorite dress store then.”, you muttered.
“You definitely should, Cher !”, Alastor encouraged.
You could see that he wasn’t finished yet, so you waited for him to start the next section of discussion to gossip about.
“Also, Mrs. Tiana gave birth to her and her husband’s offspring ! The spawn looks nothing like them ! Hahaha !”
“You don’t think that she was going behind her husband’s back, do you ?”
“I think she was, Cher !”
“My, how scandalous ! Was it truly that bad ?”
“The child didn’t have their skin color, nor their hair color ! The child’s skin color was almost like mine and the hair was ginger ! Both of them were white and one had blond hair while the other had black hair. They both said that none in their Family tree had a different skin color, nor ginger hair ! So it just can’t be his offspring.”
You covered your mouth in shock.
“I never would have thought of Mrs. Tiana as a harlot.”, you muttered.
“None of us did, mon Cher ! Yet, here we are !”
The two of you continued to gossip and talk about rumors for a while. Alastor was always happy to listen, theorize with you and to talk about everything. He was almost like a woman, chattering about all the scoundrels that were talked about and you LOVED your Dad for that. He was practically both to you. A Mother and a Father. You never lacked anything.
In Hell:
When you start gossip:
Your Father was just about to wrap up his Broadcast in Hell, as you stormed inside. He looked at you startled, his Deer ears standing on high alert. As soon as he saw you, he rolled his eyes gently, scolding himself in his thoughts, that he got scared of you.
“Father, guess what !”, you announced happily.
Oh, he knew by that voice that you heard some gossip. He turned to you, leaving his broadcast on for now.
“What is it, Cher ?”, he asked.
“I heard some interesting tea about the Vees ! Wanna hear it ?!”
He perked up and looked at you highly interested. He snapped another chair into existence next to him and gestured for you to sit down. You did so eagerly.
“Now, what was that, Cher ?”, he asked, interested.
You were bouncing up and down on your chair.
“So, apparently Valentino and Vox are in a on and off relationship, just to screw each other, when Valentino’s harlots are too busy ! How desperate is that, Papa ?! Hahaha !”
Alastor, who sipped his black coffee, spat it back out and coughed into his sleeve from shock. Then he chuckled.
“That sounds pathetically desperate ! Hahaha ! I never thought that Vox would sink even lower than he already did !”, your Father laughed out.
“I didn’t know that Valentino was so depraved and pathetically desperate that he even fucks his own harlots ! Hahaha ! That just shows how unwanted he is !”, you laughed out.
“True, true, my Dear !”
“Oh, oh ! And have you heard that the Demon, Velvet dated, broke up with her ?!”
“Applesauce, mon petit !”, he yelled in fake shock.
“It’s true, Papa ! They apparently were dining in a restaurant and suddenly the man said that he is dumping her ass, then left the restaurant without paying too ! She left it, looking like a mess ! I bet the other two Vees had to coddle her to make it better ! HA ! How fucking pathetic for an Overlord !”
Alastor laughed loudly at that and petted your head, affectionately.
“Also, Vox tried to copy your Radio Station to make Radio Broadcasts himself, to grow bigger ! Can you believe how desperate that flat faced idiot is ?! Hahaha !”
“Is that so, Cher ?”, Alastor said partly amused, partly triggered.
“He tried to hide it from you too ! Sadly someone from his team snitched ! Hahahaha !”, you confirmed with laughter.
“Hmmm. Interesting indeed, Cher !”
“Also, some guests in Valentino’s porn clubs said that the hygiene in the bathrooms, of all the clubs, are so nasty that no one even wants to take a dump there ! Hahaha ! That insect is destroying his own image !”, you cackled out.
Alastor laughed at that.
“Well, what did you expect from a moth, Cher ? That they are clean ?”
“You would think his business and his employees means something to him, but it seems it wants to go broke soon enough !”
Alastor just chuckled and already planned how to teach Vox a lesson, for trying to take over Radio, HIS specialty.
The Broadcast went 30 minutes longer, discussing and gossiping about the Vees mostly.
After they finished their Broadcast, they saw that all of Pentagram City had a blackout. Welp, they fried Vox then with the other two Vees.
When Alastor starts gossip:
You both visited Rosie, just to catch up a bit and that was where everything went down. From a small pleasant exchange of how you all three have been, it turned into gossiping.
“My Dear, you have to be pulling our legs.”, Alastor accused Rosie in disbelief.
“I am not, Al ! I promise ya ! He really tried to eat her !”, Rosie insisted.
You just laughed and ate another finger that Rosie offered. You rarely did eat her treats that she offered, but today you were fine with it. Rosie knew about your picky diet swings, so she never felt insulted.
“What about you, Dear ? Any interesting gossip ?”, Rosie asked you.
“Oh quite some interesting ones, indeed !”, you replied.
“Oh do spill the tea, Dearie !”, Rosie said in excitement.
“Well, I heard that Zestial had three Sons and they are all down here. They say that Zestial hid them from everyone, because they are not very strong and he is ashamed of them.”
“Oh my...”, Rosie said in shock and intrigue.
Alastor was in slight shock and very interested in it.
“I will ask Zest about it tomorrow. After all we are supposed to meet up at Carmilla’s tomorrow. He is always there.”, you told her.
“Oh please do ask him ! I would love to know if these rumors are true !”
Then she turned to Alastor.
“And you, my friend ? What did you catch ?”
Alastor chuckled.
“A lot of people are starting to question Queen Lilith’s absence. Many say that she made a Deal with the Holy Gates. Others say that she got exterminated.”
“Hah ! As if anyone could kill our Queen ! She would NEVER agree to make a Deal with the Angels either ! How silly !”
Alastor chuckled and nodded, agreeing with Rosie, while you just shook your head in amusement.
“Also, it was rumored that Overlord Missi Zilla was seen with a lowlife Sinner, getting a bit steamy in an alley way.”
“No way !”, Rosie and you yelled.
“Yes, yes, indeedy !”, Alastor insisted.
Rosie leaned back.
“Oh my stars...”, she muttered.
“Who do you think it was ?”, you asked the two other Overlords.
“All I have heard was that the Demon Sinner was a bull. There was nothing else.”, Alastor chimed in.
“As if Missi would stoop that low.”, you scoffed.
“You never know, my Dear !”
And the gossip with Rosie and Alastor would continue for a long while, while you chimed in and shared your own gossip. You saw Rosie like a Mother figure and your Father didn’t mind it a bit. He was glad you liked Rosie.
You three Overlords would gossip for hours.
Alastor is a HUGE fan of gossip. You never know what interesting information you will hear, after all.
He would gossip with you, his beloved Daughter, like women would gossip amongst each other.
He would try and see if you were pulling his leg or not, but most of the times you were serious.
As soon as he got interesting gossip, he would immediately sit down with you and share, loving to bond with you over simple gossip.
He would always share a few laughs with you here and there.
He loves it when you have gossip/information about his enemies/victims. Somehow you just KNEW where and how to get the interesting tea ! He couldn’t be prouder !
He would never shut you down if you wanted to gossip with him. He would always listen and throw in his input/opinion on the matters discussed.
He is the perfect person to gossip with and so are you and Rosie.
I hope I hit the mark with this ! ^^'

Thinking of Vander, two weeks after they buried Felicia, a week after he tried to murder Silco, putting two traumatized girls to bed and getting back in his bar and everybody has been roused by alcohol and the tone is belligerent, tonight; like the moment of sadness has passed, and people are discussing, arguing, debating, wondering- the fuck, you know? They lost so many, and for what? And though Vander was part of it all, was the main face of it all, they all rage over Silco, how extreme he'd became the past few years, how he kept wanting more and more and more -
And it's the first time Vander hears it from outside is head and it's wrong. He knew, deep down, that Silco was less liked than him, even before - too smart, too cunning, to be fully trusted in a world where betrayal is as common as breathing; but they'd built something here and part of it all belonged to Silco and Vander ended up betraying it all. Vander's the traitor here.
It's unbearable, suddenly, to be in this room, with those people who agree with him. Yes it was too far. Yes it was too rash, too soon, yes it wasn't worth it. But was it worth drowning the one man he craves the presence of so badly right now? Was the loss of Felicia worth the loss of Silco, too?
Vander's half drunk when he gets out of the bar, blindly going back to where it was all planned, to the very beginning of their dreams. Nobody's there. He stares at the dust accumulated, of their jackets, still there, and there's still paper here and he tries different sort of letters - but, shit, how do you say, I'm sorry I tried to murder you? How do you even apologize for that? he gives up after seven or twenty attempts, go back outside, throw up, trembling and furious at himself and wanting to break something or someone's head and that's the problem, too, isn't it? Can't deal with his fucking feelings without his fists, hasn't ever have to learn to be patient, or cool off, or think and speak after because there was Silco for all that.
Falls asleep outside of the mines, wakes up cold, groggy, hangover, curses because the girls, fuck it, the girls - so he rushes to the bar and they're up, and Vi's got that serious expression she's gotten in the last few days - determined, closed off, responsible, as she tries to make eggs for little powder, who's still half asleep against her plushie. "Scoop over," he says. "I'll teach you. Might not always be around-" Powder stares up, eyes already filling with tears, and Vi tenses up, and he stumbles going: "In the mornings, kids. You guys sleep less than I do, is all I meant."
(he can't do this on his own, he thinks, afterwards. Screw shitty letters. He needs to find Silco. He needs to make things right. Won't trust him again, and that's - warranted. Fine. He'll get it. He'll stay back. But there's gotta be a way where they work again together. For Zaun. For Vi and Powder. He just needs. To find Silco back. And he will. He won't give up. Not on him, nor on the promise they made.)

Three years later
“Oh and off she goes.” Felicia cheerfully spoke as Violet wandered off towards a bit of blue chalk lying on the side of the street faster than you believed her small legs should be able to take her. Felicia rushed after her, grabbing her toddler up in her arms just as Vi had snagged the bit of chalk.
Vi gave an angered noise that sounded like some roaring beast at her feet leaving the ground. The kid thrashed about in her mom’s arms, kicking and throwing punches as if she could fight her way out. Felicia laughed through it all.
“Okay, okay.” Felicia placed a smacking kiss on her kid’s round, dirt-smudged cheek before quickly pulling her face out of the way of another small, chubby little fist. “Geez. One of these days you’re gonna knock someone's tooth out.” She huffed, placing Vi back onto the ground.
“No, no, mommy.” Vi humphed, wagging a finger like she was the boss. Felicia merely laughed again, ruffling her head of pink hair.
“That kid needs a leash,” Sevika grumbled from where she walked beside you, pulling her cigarette from her lips.
“She’s just explori--oh and there she goes again.” Felicia booked it after Vi as she made to start writing on some passing man’s pants with the chalk still clutched in her fist.
“Gods. Guppy, you ever catch me daydreaming about shit like having a kid, I give you full permission to smash a rock over my head.” Sevika took a long drag from her smoke after she spoke.
“Only if you agree to do the same for me.” You smirked. Sevika held her first out and you were quick to bump your own against it. She pulled her cigarette from her lips and exhaled the remaining smoke from her lungs.
“Deal.”
“You two are so negative,” Nadia spoke from where she walked just before you two, her eyes nervously scanning over her own kid, now nearly on the cusp of teenage-hood. “Vi is just a very spirited child.” And just as Nadia finished, Vi gave another screeching wail as Felicia lugged her back over to you all.
“Got her!” Felicia cheered as Violet’s eyes began to fill with frustrated tears.
“How are you feeling, little angel?” Nadia asked Viktor who she hadn’t taken her eyes off once since they all started the walk towards the bridge.
And she was nervous for good reason. She and Nikolai, after years and years of hard work and living off scraps, had saved up enough money to send Viktor to school in Piltover.
And not just any school. The best school money could buy. A school that would further feed Viktor’s curiosity and need to experiment as well as give him the connections needed so he could, after he graduated, attend Piltover Academy.
But for him to attend this school and become something over there, he had to stay there and you knew it was keeping everything within Nadia not to break down and forget about all of it.
“The same way I felt when you asked me a minute and thirty seconds ago,” Viktor responded, voice full of sass he’d been using more and more lately.
“Oh.” Nadia gave a weak smile. “Excited then, yes?” She asked, reaching a gentle hand out to run her fingers through his head of wild hair to try and smooth it back down. Violet gave another screeching wail just as Viktor swatted his mother’s hand away.
“Silly goose,” Felicia spoke as Nadia pulled from her son, fingers beginning to fiddle and pick at each other.
“Actually. Just shoot me.” Sevika grumbled under her breath to you as she observed the exchanges between both mothers and their kids.
“Only if you do the same.” Sevika chuckled heartily at your response. “Dee, you said Nikolai’s already over there?” You questioned, trying to quickly keep Nadia’s mind off her son's denial of affection. Nadia blinked her burnt gold eyes at you, that weak smile still plastered to her face.
“Yes. Yes, he went last night to deliver a sculpture to a client. We have a friend he stayed the night with. He should already be on the other side of the bridge and to meet Viktor and bring--” Her voice faltered a bit as she gazed back at her son who confidently limped ahead, looking all too ready for this next step in life. “Bring him to school. Help him settle in.”
“Good.” You quickened your pace a bit to be able to stand beside your friend. Your first friend. One you’d met as soon as she and her family had made it to the Lanes after fleeing their home. She had been just as sweet and kind back then as she was now, but she too held that same sass her son now used. You placed a hand on Nadia’s shoulder.
“Viktor’ll do good. You know that. He’s smart.” Nadia nodded, grabbing hold of your hand tightly and giving you a heavy, grateful-filled look. “We’re here for you…even when Sevika’s a Miss. Dark and Gloomy and Felicia wrangling some feral creature.” Nadia gave an equally as weak huffed laugh.
“Watch. My little creature is gonna grow up and become a famous cage fighter. Hand you all your asses while she’s at it.” Felicia grinned your way, Vi all but hanging upside down as Felicia struggled to keep a hold of her wrestling daughter.
Felicia and Connol, since having Vi, decided Felicia could stop working the mines till Vi was old enough to stay home by herself. It made it so that Connol was rarely home and Felicia feeling a bit more lonely.
So, Felicia found work at your job. Your boss, having a soft spot for mothers and their little ankle biters, gave Felicia temporary work in her office where she could bring Violet while she helped with paperwork.
It’s why Felicia was able to come with you all this morning to see Viktor off. You all would make sure he got across the bridge safe and sound before heading to the diner-shop to start the work day.
After work, your group decided to hold a mock family dinner for Nadia and Nikolai to try and help keep their minds off their son living in a city that would try to swallow him whole every chance it got.
You were trying not to think too hard about your whole group in one place like that. Talking and eating and drinking together, when such festivities had grown less and less frequent.
And it was all thanks to you and Silco of course.
Your fight three years ago had left you both fighting for months. Months that neared on a whole year before Vander stepped in and told you two to knock it off. That you needed to at least act civil when around the whole group, especially since Vi had been born.
It had stopped the fighting but had left you two distant. Hardly a word spoke to each other for a year afterward.
The problem was you both were stubborn. Too proud to admit the fight was over nothing. Too proud to just sit down and talk it over like adults.
You still hardly spoke a word to each other a year after that one, though now you two could be alone together and not have it turn into a verbal battle.
You missed him.
It was something you had been thinking about more and more.
You missed exploring after work with him. Missed long talks while sharing a cigarette. Missed being able to sit next to him in silence, shoulders and thighs pressed together. Being able to sit there and not have the air be full of tension.
You missed your friend.
You cursed yourself out daily for having had a hand in losing his close friendship all because you had been scared and ran away. You should have just stayed in that cave and told him what you were thinking--how you were feeling.
But that chance passed you by and you were stuck in this tension-filled now.
Shouting pulled you from your thoughts.
You thought at first it was Violet again, but it was too loud--too many different shouts. And when you looked to the little girl, you found she had calmed in her mom's arms, watching as a pair of people rushed past your group towards the bridge.
“Oh no.” Nadia gasped as you all rounded the corner, finding the mouth of the bridge a cluster of people shouting and screaming at the enforcers standing there, trying to keep them back.
You didn’t have to peer too hard past everyone to see a large, chain fence had been put up, blocking anyone from going in.
Nadia pulled from your touch and grabbed hold of her son, who didn’t shoo her away this time.
“What the fuck.” Sevika hissed, plucking her cigarette from her lips and flicking it to the ground. “No chance in hell they’ve blocked us out.”
But none of you would ever put it past them. They’d done it before a long while ago, back when Vander’s dad was your age and The Gray ran more rabid in the streets.
“Do you know what happened?” Felicia asked the next person who tried to rush by. They took a small second to look back at you all, eyes shifting to look at Vi who was now greeting them with round after round of hi.
“They raised the toll. Five hundred.” You felt your blood run cold. The old toll had been hard enough to pay and now this?
Five hundred?
That was more than most made in a week’s worth of work.
“And even if you can pay, they’re askin’ thousands of questions just to find any reason to not let you through. Not unless you have proof.” And off they rushed into the crowd, leaving you and your group fuming.
“Fuck this--Vander’s gotta give in after hearing this shit.” Sevika gruffed and you agreed.
Vander would agree to start fighting back like you and the others had been wanting. He’d held you all back for years saying nothing that had happened was worth going to war for.
But this was worth it.
They were cutting you all off from the rest of the world like one might do to a decaying limb.
Sevika made to march back through the fissures to find Vander, but something caught her eye.
She froze.
You froze.
“Where the hell is Nadia?” Felicia asked as Vi became fussy messing in her arms all over again. Your chest tightened as you scanned over the rioting crowd. Tightened painfully when you caught a flash of ruddy red hair disappearing within it.
You rushed for her, leaving Sevika to curse and all but command Felicia to stay put as she ran after you. You didn’t slow as she called your name. Didn’t slow as you pushed and shoved through the crowd, hissing and snapping harshly at any who refused to move.
Sevika shoved those who refused away with one arm easily, having caught up to you. The few that had all but glued their feet to the ground took one look at your menacing friend and moved before you could even get to them.
“--see. Himerdinger himself selected my son to attend Piltover Preparatory School.” You heard Nadia’s accented voice before you saw her, but when you pushed through the last few bodies, you spotted her. She was shoving a gold detailed letter into the hands of an enforcer by a door closest to the tollhouse. It was the acceptance letter Viktor had received.
The enforcers, who you recognized immediately to be Rufus, who should have retired years ago, nodded on a heavy sigh.
“Five hundred.” He handed the letter back to Nadia who was quick to give it to Viktor, who was pulling lightly at the skirt of her dress shaking his head, looking like a small kid again.
“We cannot affor--” Nadia cut him off with a fierce gaze.
“You are going to that school.” She demanded, digging into her pockets for a small pouch full of coins. She fished out the correct amount and handed it to Rufus who nodded to another enforcer standing guard by the door to unlock it.
“Nadia--” You called just as an enforcer stepped before you, keeping you back. You bared your teeth at him. “Move it.” But he only continued to shove you back, just as more enforcers came to shove others back.
“You are going to work hard. And it will be hard, but you will do good things. Great things for this world.” You heard Nadia continue. You caught a glance at her, finding her on her knees before her son, holding his tear-streaked face and looking so proud. “Do not let them snuff out your spark. I love you, my little angel. Always remember that.” And you were shoved away just as she wrapped her son up in her arms for what might be the last time.
You hit Sevika’s solid body, but she held you steady. She flashed you a smirk, gray eyes steady and full of that burning anger you all held before she shoved the enforcer back, his armor rattling violently as he fell to his ass.
You used the opening to rush over the fallen officer toward Nadia, who was watching Viktor walk through the gate door, which slammed shut and locked behind him. He cast his mom one last look, who steadied him with an encouraging nod. You grabbed her arm as the enforcer Sevika knocked over shouted at you.
“Why the fuck did you do that?” You asked, trying not to let your words bite seeing your friend’s eyes had turned all red and glossy. “You shouldn’t have paid that goddamn toll.”
“It is only money.” She started, almost fighting against you as you tried to pull her away from the fence. Her burnt gold eyes, which welled over onto her flushed cheeks, kept track of her son the whole time. “I would do anything for him. Anything.”
Shouting grew more aggressive behind you. A sound that normally would have thrilled you, but with Nadia still in the heart of it all, it was dreadful.
She couldn’t fight. Didn’t know how and could hardly pick a fish-filled crate up without help. She would only get caught in the crossfire of a fight like this.
“Nadia--Nadia we have to go.” You insisted, tugging sharply at her arm. She allowed you to pull her closer.
You turned and--
Boom.
The sound echoed sharply through the air.
The sound of a gunshot.
People screamed and began to run around like chickens who’d had their heads cut off. You spotted the person who Felicia had stopped to question laying face first on the ground, red pooling beneath them.
The enforcers who had fired looked just as terrified as everyone else, his gun shaking in his hands.
Rufus shoved past you both shouting orders at him and the others to not fire.
Another gunshot sounded further down the line and that was when you held Nadia tight and sprinted toward Sevika. Sevika grabbed hold of your own arm and began dragging you back toward Felicia just as you were dragging Nadia.
Another gunshot roared through the air.
And then another.
Nadia tripped, startled scream on her lips. You held her tight and continued to pull her along.
You all just needed to get away. Far away from the enforcers and their need to quince their bloodthirst.
Felicia was holding a screaming Vi tight to her chest, feet already moving as soon as she spotted you all.
“That way. That way!” Sevika shouted to Felicia who turned the corner she was pointing at sharply.
“The fucking brothels?!” Felicia shouted back.
“Where the fuck else!” Sevika hissed.
“I can’t bring my kid in there!” Felicia called as Sevika wound the corner after her.
“Cover her eyes!”
“I can’t--” Nadia called your name on a winded breath, “I can’t--” Her pace began to slow.
“Just a little further, okay, and then we can sto--” But you felt Nadia drop to her knees just as you two turned the corner. Her weight growing so heavy it nearly pulled you down with her.
A painful start hissed through your body when you found her on the ground, clutching at her shoulder and looking pale. Too pale even for her.
Red splattered on her shaking fingertips. Red that had dripped here and there on the ground leading directly to your friend.
Rock bit into your knees as you rushed for her, flipping her onto her back to find the front of her dress soaked in blood.
“Did--did he get across?” She sputtered, fear high in her eyes. Pain screwed her face up, tears never ceasing their fall from her eyes.
“Sevika!” You screamed, grabbing for Nadia’s hand to pull it from her shoulder. She gave a scream that tore at your chest and made you hesitate. “It’s--it’s just your shoulder.” You tried to smooth, pressing your palm against the bleeding wound that only made her pain grow. “It’s fine--Sevika!”
Water was in the blood.
Water was yours to command yet blood never wanted to behave as nicely as water. Not even as nicely as alcohol which held more than less water in it than blood did.
You’d never been able to control it. Never been able to slow the flow of it even from something as small as a paper cut.
You tried anyway, squeezing your eyes shut and focusing on the water flowing within her blood. Willed it, begged it to halt just long enough for someone to come to patch her up.
Sevika cursed sharply when she came to your side but you kept focusing on your task. Kept pushing your power harder and harder even when it began to make your head spin.
“V-Viktor--” Nadia gave a small sob. “Did--get--” Another sob that burned at your eyes. “Please.”
“He did. He got across.” Your voice came out too wobbly. Too weak.
“We gotta get her out of here.” Sevika’s voice sounded, her strong hands gently starting to pull you away.
You let her, but kept your focus on your task. On wrangling her blood with your magic and pushing it back as if trying to reverse the flow of some powerful river.
Nadia gave a brokenly pained cry as Sevika picked her up as gently as she could. You followed, vision beginning to dot the longer you pushed your magic to work on such a hard task.
Black fuzzed through your eyes and the next thing you knew you were standing inside a dimly lit brothel.
Black fuzzed at your eyes as you watched Sevika lay Nadia on a pillow-covered bed, an older Yordle assessing the damage. She turned her eyes onto Sevika looking all too grim.
Black fuzzed at your eyes and Vi’s screaming rang through your ears, loud and piercing. A hand grabbed your shoulder and you pushed it quickly off of you.
Your magic snapped back into your body so hard it made you stumble backward out of the room you had been led into. You tried to summon it back but that fuzz turned into dull buzzing in your ears. Made your breath heavy and tight in your lungs. Made your stomach twist and your mouth fill with hot saliva like you might throw up.
A few of the employees of the brothel you all barged into peeked their heads out of their rooms, eyes wide and some even filled with tears. They must have heard about what happened at the bridge. Must have seen you all rush in and known what had happened as soon as they spotted Nadia--Nadia--
Your stomach rolled just as your heart twisted like some old rag and your eyes blurred.
You blinked and you were outside.
Blinked and you were down the street.
Blinked and you were looking at your shaking hands.
Blood. Nadia’s blood.
Oh gods oh gods.
Gods.
Where the fuck was Janna?
Where was she?
She was supposed to be the Lanes’ guardian spirit or some shit. Supposed to protect you all. Keep shit like this from happening to you all.
And--and she’d just left.
Left you all to suffer and die by the hands of Piltover who would never stop trying to take, take, take. They would take till their bellies were round and full and still their hunger would not be sated.
Hands grabbed your arm, tugging at you. You shove whoever it was away. A shove that only made the person grab you tighter.
You blinked and found it was an enforcer. Two. One shouted down the way for backup.
Your head spun.
The effort from trying to use your powers on something as hard as blood made it hard to re-focus--to breathe.
Before you could try to fight them off, a blur of red and gray flashed past you, attacking the enforcers for you.
The sound of a blade zinging free and the gurgled sounds of a dying breath filled your ears as you staggered back, trying desperately to get yourself together. More screams. More sounds of death and soon someone was before you. Someone who was calling your name sharply.
You tensed a bit when hands grabbed hold of your face, body readying to fight, but the feel of those hands. Of chilled, calloused, and scarred skin gave you pause. Had you blink and blink that fog away till you found Silco’s face there.
He looked worried. Really worried.
Worried for you.
Only you.
“Hey--hey are you hurt? Did they hurt you?” Fingers smooth over your skin, pulling your face closer and closer. You blinked again, eyes filling with liquid fire as you grabbed desperately for his hands. Hands that continued to hold you tight, to hold you so close you felt his forehead brush against yours.
Out of all the touches and almost touches that had happened between you two your whole lives, this was the one you craved most. One you pressed into. One that had those tears you fought back rolling down your cheeks and over her fingers in hot streams.
“Tell me--what happened? I heard about the bridge and--”
“Nadia--” Weak. Your voice sounded so weak in your ear and, even though you typically would have cringed at such weakness being shown, you didn’t care. Couldn’t care. Not when your friend could be dying. Not in front of Silco. “She’s--”
Silco pulled you into his chest, arms wrapping around your body tightly and you just crumbled. Just completely broke down--snot and all. Sobs shook your body so violently you were sure they were shaking through Silco as well.
But Silco didn’t pull away. Only held you tighter, like he might try to press you into him. Only smoothed his hands over your back and pressed his cheek against your head, keeping you almost completely surrounded by him.
“Silco!” It was Vander’s voice and Vander’s footfalls that were growing closer and closer. “Where are the other girls?” He asked, worry high in his voice.
“Where is Felicia? Vi?” Connol sounded even more worried than Vander. As he should. His whole life had been at the bridge. His whole life could have been taken away in one fell swoop. You grabbed two fist fulls of Silco’s leather jacket, holding on for dear life as you fought to reign back your chest-aching sobs. As Connol all but hissed your name, trying to frantically stir you from your breaking.
“Don’t.” Silco hissed right back at him, a hand coming to hold the back of your head as if to keep you shielded from your friend. “I saw her come out from the entertainment district. I would guess they are all there.” Silco had hardly finished his words before someone, most likely Connol, rushed off.
“It's not safe here. We need to get out of view.” It was Benzo’s voice that spoke, the man sure to have joined them without a second thought. Silco was silent as his fingertips brushed over the back of your neck. Seemed to be waiting for you and for whenever you were ready, no matter the danger that lurked through the streets. You wrestled yourself to move, pulling slowly from Silco’s hold as you tried to bite down your weakness.
Silco let his hands linger on you. Let his hand brush over your cheek and over your shoulder, seafoam eyes scanning you over, looking for everything and anything that might be a harm to you.
He took hold of your hand firmly like he was refusing to let you go again. You were glad for it. Glad for his support, even when tension between you had grown choking. Tensions that, in that moment, seemed to be forgotten.
Vander’s face hardened when his eyes took in your upset nature. Benzo’s eyes grew sullen.
You never cried. You’d come close, but you never cried. Especially in front of others.
It was something Silco and Vander both knew. Something that was hardening Vander against the cruel reality that someone could be hurt. Someone could be dead.
Hardened into that anger.
The wolf paced behind those gray eyes.
Was growing stronger and stronger, ready to be let loose upon the world.
Sevika was right. He would agree to start the revolution you all had dreamed of now.
Start a war.
“Who?” Vander asked. Your lip trembled.
“Nadia. I--I don’t know--” Silco’s body pressed closer to yours in a silent telling that you could lean on him. That he would be there for you no matter what.
Vander nodded, beginning to head off in the direction Connol had run, Benzo quick on his heel.
“It’s not safe out here. Let's go.” It was a command. One you wanted to follow but your body locked up against.
Go? Go back to that brothel Nadia was laying in? Go back to that place and see her dying?
Silco’s hand pulled from your own only for it to wrap around your waist, pressing you into his side.
“I’m here. I’m here with you.” He didn’t promise that Nadia would be okay. He couldn’t promise that. No one could. Not when they didn’t know any true doctors. Not when, even if it was just a shot to her shoulder, could be fatal if left unattended for long.
But he did promise he was there.
That he wouldn’t leave your side, no matter what.
And it was enough to get your body moving back towards the entertainment district.
The typically busy street looked like it had been abandoned. Looked like it was closed down for good.
You led them to the brothel everyone was hold up in, finding Connol and Felicia sitting just in the entrance on a nest of pillows, a small group of workers cooing at Vi who was going up to each and grabbing for any shiny jewelry or pretty hair piece they wore.
One of them rushed past you three and was quick to lock the door. And bolt lock it. And shove a plank of wood across its frame. She was just as quick to rush to stand before you all, giving a small bow of her head before rushing back off towards the back rooms.
“Any word about Nadia?” Vander asked Connol and Felicia.
“I was asked to leave the room because this little troublemaker was very upset,” Felicia spoke, a small smile pulling to her lips as Vi huffed her mom's way. “Sevika’s with her…it’s been quiet.”
Your throat tightened.
Your eyes burned.
Your stomach rolled.
She wasn’t okay. She was dying. Dead. Laying in some brothel she would have blushed furiously at just from a glance in its direction.
“Let’s sit.” Silco calmly spoke to you. Only you. You nodded and let him pull you along.
“I--I’m sorry.” You all but heaved out past your thick throat. Silco sat down on another little nest of pillows, gently sitting you down next to him. He didn’t pull his hand away from your waist, even when he no longer needed to guide you around like some lost dog.
“You’ve done nothing you need to apologize for.” He calmly spoke again.
This was the closest you’d been to him in a long, long time. The longest he’s touched you in a long, long time.
And gods you had missed it. Gods you cursed yourself for being so stupid and stubborn.
You moved the slightest bit so that your thigh was pressed firmly against his. So that you could look up at his face and take in all his sharp, handsome features. Look into those seafoam eyes he was already watching you carefully with.
“I shouldn’t have--” Silco cut you off with a small shake of his head, knowing where you were going with this.
“You don’t--”
“I don’t want to fight anymore. Please. Can we--please.” You begged on a breath so that only he might be able to hear.
This wasn’t something you really wanted to be doing in front of your friends. In front of strangers and in the heart of a brothel but you needed to say it. Needed to stop your fighting before something happened to you or worse, something happened to him. You wouldn’t be able to live with yourself if something horrible happened to him and you hadn’t at least tried to remedy it.
Silco watched over your face for a long moment. A moment that only had your aching heart ache even more.
Did he disagree? Did he not want to try and mend the hurts between you two?
A small nod helped ease a bit of the ach in your chest.
“I don’t want to fight either.” He breathed back, keeping his words just for you as you had for him. “I should be apologizing. The way I acted was immature and--”
“It was pretty childish.” Silco paused for a moment, slight surprise in his eyes at your teasing but you found the edge of his lips pull upward.
“I am in the middle of an apology here.” He huffed back. An amused huff. It made your lips tug at their corners.
“Oh sorry. Go on.” You shifted a bit as if to get more comfortable.
“You’re insufferable.” Silco shook his head at you.
“Thank you.” You proudly said. Silco chuckled and you did the same, but your amusement faded out as pain spiked in your chest at everything that had happened. Your eyes scanned his face over once more, finding a bit of dirt smudged on his cheek from his work. They must have dropped everything and rushed from the mines when they heard what had happened.
Hesitantly, you brought your hand up to brush that bit of soot away and Silco didn’t shrug you away. He leaned into your touch, eyes almost fluttering closed at your skin on his.
“I’m…I’m really terrified.” You breathed, eyes burning all over again. Silco nodded, cupping your hand within his, holding it against his cheek.
“I know.”
“What if…” Your voice broke and your lips trembled. “What if she dies? I’m…she was the first person to show me kindness and--” Your voice failed you then.
“Then…we’ll deal with it. Together. Head on. Just like we always do.” His thumb brushed over your knuckles in further comfort. A comfort you anchored yourself to. Let your eyes flutter closed and just breathe it in.
Even when he hadn’t showered, he still managed to smell fresh. Like mist. Like a calm lake.
His forehead pressed firmly against yours once more. You weren’t entirely sure who had moved closer, whether that be you or Silco, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was he was close to you again. Was telling you silently that he still cared for you. That he would always care for you and you silently told him the same.
“Just because your friend was bleeding out all over my establishment doesn't mean you can fondle each other here without paying.” A rasping voice spoke, spooking you and Silco from the tender moment you had been sharing. Spooked you two so bad you pulled apart, finding the older Yordle walking into the center of the entrance room.
The workers who had been cooing and playing cheerfully with Violet were quick to their feet at the Yordle's appearance. They rushed off, bowing their heads at you and your friends, and the Yordle before rushing back towards their rooms. She only shook her head at them.
“We weren’t--it wasn’t like that.” Silco started pink dusting over his cheeks in a way that had Felicia chuckle knowingly and you feeling all flustered as well. Benzo wasn’t as discrete with showing his amusement, all but bellowing out a laugh that nearly had him folding in half.
The Yordle took a long drag from her cigarette and blew the heavy smoke in a tight stream toward the ceiling a few moments later.
“Boy, I work in a den of lust and love. I’ve seen it all and know what’s what.” Silco’s blush only grew deeper, his eyes glancing your way in his embarrassment of being singled out.
And despite your own embarrassment, you could help the small chuckle that pfffted from your lips. One that only had that blush deepened, but tugged that easy smile you adored to his lips.
“How is she?” Vander cut in before anything else could be said. The Yordle leveled him with a look.
“Babette.” Vander’s brows furrowed in slight confusion.
“Uh--what---”
“My name is Babette.” Vander blinked, looking a bit lost for words.
“Uh--Vander.” Babette nodded her head slowly, taking another long drag from her cigarette.
“I know. People talk.” Vander gave a small exhale of breath just as she gave a release of smoke.
“Babette,” Vander started, “How is our friend?”
“You’re lucky this is the place you barged into. I’ve been doing this job a long time now. Seen it all. Had to learn to patch up bullet and knife wounds alike. People think just because they are paying they can do whatever they wish. No manners.” Babette mused on a shake of her head, making you nervous all over again. “She’ll live.” You breathed a shuddering sigh in relief, Silco’s hand giving yours a squeeze. “But she’s weak. Will be weak for a long while. Such a small thing, that one.”
You were quick to your feet, Silco following suit. “Thank you. What--how much do you want?” You asked.
Between the six of you in the room now, you could probably scrooge up…seven…eight coins. Sevike would try to horde whatever she had on her, but she would add in another three or four coins. Probably only bronze…none of you would be carrying around any gold.
“You couldn’t afford it, sweetness.” Babette purred, making you feel all flustered all over again. “All I want in return is for you to take a stand for us.” Babette’s eyes found Vander’s again. Found him and settled him with a hard, burning stare. Vander nodded at her.
You saw the wolf pace and pace, mawl dripping in hungry justice.
“Thank you.” Babette gave a wave of her hand as she took another drag of her cigarette.
You started for the backrooms, Silco still having yet to take his hand out of your and you found you could only be grateful for his continued support. More than grateful.
Sevika leaned against the wall next to the door Nadia was behind, already watching you two walk towards her. “She’s sleeping.” Sevika huffed, eyes glancing down the hall to where more workers were peeking their heads out of their doors. They disappeared under her gaze, all except one who winked her way before popping back into her room. Sevika gave a smirk at this. “We gonna break their enforcers' skulls?” She asked, her gaze darkening as she looked at Silco.
“More than break,” Silco spoke coolly.
“And if Vander chickens out again?” Sevika asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Would that make any difference now?” Sevika scoffed.
“Nah.”
“Good.” You…found you didn’t like this. Like this…this almost behind closed-door talk. Like Vander would give up on fighting for his friends. Like Vander would give up fighting for everyone. For freedom.
He wouldn’t. It wouldn’t come to that.
But as you pulled out of Silco’s grip and made it into the room Nadia slept in, finding her looking all too weak, you almost didn’t believe your own thoughts.
Part if you believed Vander would back out, if under the right circumstances.
And Silco…you knew he never would.
He would die before he gave up hope on the future of Zuan.
And you would be lying to yourself if you said it didn’t scare you.
Tumblr media
Your whole group made the journey from the entertainment district an hour later to safely bring Nadia back home, which was a tiny, run-down hole in the wall squished between and under other-like homes. It was a mess of all sorts of art and science supplies and half-finished projects. The space was cut roughly in half by a hung curtain, hand painted by Nadia with various swirling designs, to keep their makeshift bedroom separate.
Felicia and Connol, after double-checking to make sure Nadia would be alright, had headed home, their daughter having turned into a sleep-needing beast in Connol’s arms.
Sevika rummaged through Nadia’s small kitchen now, looking for any sort of alcohol she could get her hands on. When she started to shout back to Nadia about it, even when the woman was definitely not supposed to be roused in such a way, you excused yourself outside to find Silco.
You found him sitting on a pile of crates and barrels near Nadia’s home, a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his fingers. Vander and Benzo had been out here a few minutes ago, standing beside him. You assumed they must have left, whether that be back to work or to The Last Drop.
You weren’t sure and you didn’t entirely care in that moment, not when Silco's seafoam eyes found you before the door had even swung shut behind you.
You made your way down the ramp Nikolai had built Viktor over top of the original steps there to make it just a little easier for his son to get home before you came to a stop a little ways before Silco.
You held his gaze as he ran his hand through his hair, which he had allowed out of its usual bun to hang loosely around his shoulders in gentle waves.
He held your gaze right back, offering his cigarette out to you. You carefully took it, only for him to grab hold of your wrist and yank you closer. Your heart spiked in your chest and began to beat erratically against your rips at the sudden movement.
Neither pair of eyes left the other for a long moment. Neither of you moved. Neither of you wanted to move. Not when you were so close again. Not when you truly wanted to be even closer.
“How is she holding up?” Silco asked and you begged your heart to calm its wildness.
“As fine as someone who's just been shot and sent their son off to live in the belly of the beast.” You murmured, pulling a nod from Silco.
“Alive. That’s what matters most. We’ll figure everything out. Head on.” He moved his legs so that they hung over the sides of the crate he was sitting on. So that his knees were on either side of your legs, brushing against them gently.
“Together.” You agreed.
“Together.” He repeated, eyes dipping to glance at your lips. You moved closer now that he had created space for such a thing, the front of your thighs pressing into the edge of the crate and his thighs laying against them comfortably. You’re own eyes dipped almost greedily to look at his own lips. Lips you thought about too often…no--no, maybe didn’t think about them enough.
“Thank you….for being there for me.” Silco gave your wrist still in his grip a gentle squeeze.
“No need for all that. I will always be there for you when you need me.” You felt warm ash from the cigarette you held fall over your fingers, but you dared not pull away from him. Not when you’d been away from him for so long. Not when you had missed his close friendship so dearly.
A long silence filled the space between you two. A silence that was familiar--warm, not the foully tense thing it had been for one too many years.
“Would…” You started, your heart beginning to beat loudly in your chest again. Fear, anxiety, and flusteredness all tumbling about within it like some riptide.
“Would…?” Silco questioned, eyes ever watchful yet so--so soft. A softness only you had never been allowed to see. A softness you had realized maybe too late was only ever for you.
You hoped it wasn’t too late.
You prayed it.
“Would you…would you like to pretend that we’re back at my pool?” You spoke on a voice smaller than a whisper. A voice that was anything but full of all the nerves rolling about in you.
Silco’s eyes widened the smallest bit at your question, his lips parting in the same smallness to show you a small flash of his chipped front teeth you loved to see.
“What--but…I thought you didn’t want us to fight any longer?” He whispered back.
“I don’t but…I was scared.” Silco’s brows furrowed in slight question.
“Scared? Of--me?”
“I--Felicia talked to me…after.” Silco nodded in understanding. After your fight in The Last Drop. He’d seen her rush after you. “She told me--well she said I should tell you why I ran away.”
“Because you thought I was going to hurt you?” You gave a small huff through your nose as you brushed a bit of his dark hair behind his ear. An action that had that delicate blush spreading over his cheeks all over again.
“Silco you could have anyone. You’ve had anyone. I just--I don’t want to be just anyone to you because…you’re not just anyone to me.” You rested your hand on his cheek, rubbing your thumb gently over his flushed skin.
“Anyone--” He said your name just as softly as he looked at you, “You aren’t just anyone to me. You’ve--you’ve never been just anyone to me. Why do…” He seemed to grow nervous then, eyes drooping slightly away from your own. “Why do you think I waited so long to…to try to kiss you.” Even though the last part was whispered, you heard it nonetheless. He shook his head slightly. “You are--are everything to me and I’m sorry you felt like you were anything less.”
You moved your hand gently along his sharp cheek to find his chin, lifting it so that you might see those seafoam eyes of his you adored. Eyes that shone bright with such--such admiration for you in them. A look that had you forgetting all about the cigarette in your other hand.
That horrid, nagging voice clawed at the back of your mind as it always did and always would. A voice that shouted at you all the things that could happen if you let yourself believe his words. A voice that wanted nothing more than to protect you from possible hurt, but it was also a voice that would only ever hold you back.
And it was a voice shoved an iron-clad hand over to silence it.
“Would you like to pretend?” You whispered again, letting your thumb brush just below the curve of his lower lip, which parted on a shaky inhale of breath.
“I don’t want to pretend.” He whispered back, hand moving up from where he held your wrist to pull you closer. “Let’s just--face it. Head on.” You nodded, nose brushing against his. A brush that had your blood pounding right alongside the beat your heart had set.
“Together?” Silco’s hand ended its journey, finding rest on your jaw. He guided you closer. So close you felt his breath ghost over your lips, sending a tingling flare through them.
“Together.” He agreed, eyes flickering between yours and your lips.
Waiting. He was waiting.
He was nervous. Nervous you might run away again. Nerves that made your heart ache for him past its beating.
You pushed closer, lips brushing against his, turning that tingling into a flame. A flame that roared into a blaze as you fit your lips against his like you would a cigarette. And just like a cigarette, his lips against yours filled your head with a pleasurable fog. Had your lips begging and begging for more.
Silco inhaled deeply as he moved his lips against yours steadily, his other hand wrapping around your waist to pull you flush against him. You let him hold you, his strong--safe--hold only making your head spin faster and faster.
Forehead rested against forehead as you two pulled apart, panting in shared air.
A goofy grin spread over your kiss-puffed lips. A grin that pulled an equally as goofy smile to Silco’s own lips, turned near red from your kiss.
“Was that--was that okay?” Silco asked on uneven breaths. You gave a small huff in amusement, running your fingers through his hair just like they had always itched to do. An action that had Silco’s eyes fluttering in utter enjoyment.
“I would have thrown you into the harbor if I hadn’t.” You teased, nuzzling your nose against his.
“Good thing,” He started, nuzzling your nose right back. “‘Cause I can’t swim.”
“You have to learn. Could save your life one day.” That soft look returned in full then as he looked over your face. A look that was full of such joy it only brought the same bright joy to you.
“Only if you teach me.” You nodded.
“Gladly.” And his lips seared into yours once more.

Do you have more Zaundads with Vi headcannons? I'm obsessed!!
Oh don’t worry I unfortunately think about them all the time and thus have plenty of headcanons! Enjoy!
- About a year after Felicia and Connol died, a horrible sickness swept through the Lanes and Vi caught it. She spent 4 days in bed, delirious from fever, crying for her parents. Silco spent every second by her bedside while Vander took care of the other kids, trying to keep her comfortable. She would only calm when lying on top of Silco, the steady beat of his heart soothing her to sleep.
- Even as an adult, Vi is super whiny when sick. She can handle physical pain no problem, but the second she’s sniffling? Oh, the misery. Caitlyn refuses to deal with it and sends her to Vander and Silco at the first sign of a cough.
- Vi hates being babied because she never wants to be seen as weak, but also deeply craves comfort and safety from her loved ones. The solution? Guerrilla Affection, as lovingly dubbed by Vander.
- Guerrilla Affection takes many forms. Vander pressing a quick kiss to her knuckles after bandaging them post-fight. Silco helping her trim her hair when it gets too long, fingers running a soothing pattern through the strands. Holding her just a smidge too tight in an embrace, only letting go when she pulls away. Always being a safe place to come home to.
- Silco actually approved of Caitlyn when Vi told her fathers they started dating. Her mother had always been an ally of Zaun and he knew Caitlyn had a good head on her shoulders and would keep his girl out of trouble.
- Vander however sulked for a week, not because he disapproved of Caitlyn, but because he didn’t want ANY of his kids dating. Dating meant forming a new life with someone and moving away and eventually forgetting all about your dear old dad. Silco repeatedly found him cuddled up with Powder, making the girl swear to Janna she’d live with them forever, which Powder gleefully agreed to. Silco would roll his eyes, fish their youngest of the greedy paws of his husband, and tell Vander to stop being such a child and to go man the bar.
- Alone time is hard to come by with four kids. Vander and Silco found that is they asked Vi “if she was responsible enough to keep everyone else entertained while they did super important, secret work in their room”, they could usually sneak away for an hour or two while Vi kept everyone else in line.
So many thoughts percolating, maybe it’s time to actually plan a fic for all of this…

Unrequited. [Part 1]
Pairing: Andrew! Peter Parker x Fem!Reader. Warnings: Felicia Hardy, a little suggestive, interrupted. Summary: You're Peter Parker's roommate and you're so done with the amount of women that come into your apartment.
Chapter 1: Thin Walls.
"Please, please, please" he begged, hips jerking upwards as she let her hips grind against his. His eyes were hazy, lingering on the way her arms stretched, wrapping around his shoulders, "I promise to make you feel good, baby. Please, I need to feel you."
She left a kiss on his jaw, then another on his cheek, and when she reached the edge of his lips, he let out a whine that would have made him embarrassed in any other situation. Right then, however, it just made her let out a breathy laugh against his mouth and he could feel his pants growing tighter.
She was everything.
"You sure you want this, Peter?"
He nodded mindlessly, he didn't really hear what she said, he would just agree to anything that woman asked if it meant being hers, and when she dropped to her knees, another whine left him.
She was being so sweet, softly pushing him against the bed, playing with his zipper, palming him through his jeans. Peter threw his head back, a lazy grin forming on his lips as she settled her eyes on his. He reached for a strand of her hair, and played with it.
She left a chaste kiss on his hipbone, another on his lower stomach, and when he felt the sloppy kiss against the fabric of his boxers, he groaned.
Then he heard the loud thud on the wall, and finally recognized the presence of his roommate on the next room. He incorporated quickly, but Felicia was pulling on his boxers and he couldn't help the "Fuck" he whimpered at her touch.
"Peter, for fucks sake!" you yelled, and he bit his lips cringing, "Stop being a slut!"
Felicia looked up at him and she didn't seem annoyed, no, she looked absolutely angry. He licked his lips, ready to explain but she was already standing up and picking up the thin blouse he had taken the sweet time of unbuttoning.
"Sweetheart...!"
"Don't fucking 'sweetheart' me, Parker" she hissed, carefully clasping her stilettos, "You told me you lived alone!"
"I told you I was alone." he corrected her gently, zipping up his jeans as he tried to reach for her, "She wasn't supposed to be here, Felicia. Please"
"I'm sorry, darling, but I don't like having an audience."
She gracefully walked out of his room and guided herself around his apartment. Peter heard the dim laughter inside your room as he followed her, a laughter he could only pick up because of his heightened senses, and he was going to confront you about this.
"Honey, we can just be quieter..."
"I'm not a teenager to be playing around like this" Felicia took a hold of the doorknob and turned to look at him, "Maybe make up a code next time? Put a sock on your door or something, I don't give a shit."
And she left.
Peter turned to look at his roommate's door. He inhaled sharply.
He called for you.
He saw the doorknob move, then saw you peek your head out behind the wood and give him a small smile, "Yeah?"
"Was that necessary?"
"I mean," you took a good look at Peter, eyes scanning him up and down shamelessly. You would never admit it, but he looked delicious all hot and bothered, "It was to me."
"You say that like it happened often" he tried to argue, but you raised an eyebrow and leaned against the door frame, making him remember the other times. He sighed, "Okay, I can understand how that can be annoying..."
"You know, Peter..." Your voice was laced with a mix of amusement and irritation "There's a whole world out there full of people who don't involve me in their intimacy, yet I came to live with the only one who does, and not in the good way."
Peter ran a hand through his hair, feeling the blood run to his cheeks. "Look, I'm sorry, okay? It won't happen again, I don't even think she'd..."
You cut him off waving your hand, "You're something else, Parker" you said, shaking your head as your gaze softened, "Seriously though, knock it off. I'm not your personal filming crew, and, like she said, I'm definitely not your audience."
Peter opened his mouth to respond but you turned around, "Don't bother. I'm going to bed. And next time, maybe try a motel room? Or, better yet, invest in some self-control." NEXT PART.

Hey Vanco nation!
Good news!
The timeline/continuity of events is even MORE fucked with the inclusion of Jinx Fixes Everything.
This map, this interaction with a second map, and the picture linked to this area:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put the place Vander tried to kill Silco... on the southwest side of Zaun, way across the city from the bridge and the river separating Zaun and Piltover.
....whoops. >.>
This is 99.9% just a whoopsie from an asset creator for the Jinx Fixes Everything game for a lot of reasons (not least of which because that's clearly Piltover on the skyline AND when Jinx and Silco are there for the "baptism" scene, they're standing in the shallows/almost certainly near an opposite shore looking across the water at it), but it's also funny as fuck given how janky the continuity of poor Silco and Vander's backstory already is. 💀
If it didn't fly in the face of the gorgeous themes thick enough to write a few essays on that come from Vander specifically drowning Silco in the river between the two cities, I'd be tempted to find a rationalization for how to fit this into the Zaundads timeline just for shits and giggles.
I mean, my personal headcanon is that the drowning took place a day or so after the bridge rebellion when something else caused the tensions to come to a head, but everyone was still in the middle of the fall out from it. (i.e. Vander found out Silco threw the first molotov, the enforcers made some demand that Silco couldn't agree to, Silco and the others wanted to storm the bridge again, ect. ect.) to account for the whooollle clean shaven thing. I do think it would be perfectly valid for Vander to have tried to drown him for whatever his specific reasons were, then returned to the bridge and, idk, beaten the fuck out of an enforcer that was lingering around Felicia and Connel's bodies, and come back to it when he saw Vi and Powder. But the clean shaven bit is a silly little thing that forces the events to different days to resolve it anyway, so there isn't really a point in trying to place the drowning before he took Vi and Powder home.
All that to say, since I headcanon the drowning as having taken place a day or so after the bridge rebellion, it would only hurt the themes, but WHOA BOY, it would suck ass comparatively to not have it happen beneath/around the bridge. So I'll be taking this map as the continuity error it almost certainly is.

The Light of Absent Eyes
Vander has taken to visiting Ekko's mural on quiet evenings. Without the oppressive haze of the grey, Zaun's nights are colder than they used to be. Silco, ever observant, brings him his sweater. Sentimental shenanigans ensue.

Without early winter's chill in the air, Silco thought, this place would smell intolerably swampy. A few browning lilypads still clung to the surface of the pool, and a carpet of the giant ginkgo tree's shed leaves slid and squished under his boots as he made his way through the water. Dusk barely filtered down into the abandoned reservoir, and the only clear light came from a cluster of mismatched candles in front of the mural of a young woman's face. A young woman with fiery red hair and a fighter's wraps on her hands. A young woman whose expressions made her look by turns angry and angular, soft and smiling, and utterly at home in her own skin.
A young woman Silco had never met, and never would.
"Missed me that much, eh?" Vander was leaning against one of the mossy concrete pipes that littered the reflecting pool, and his voice echoed off the metal walls around them.
"Were you gone?" Silco asked with a mocking tilt of his head, slinging Vander's thick, much-mended cardigan off his shoulders and holding it out toward him. "You shouldn't be wandering around the fissures this time of night in your shirtsleeves."
"Yeah, alright, mum," Vander said with a good-humored roll of his eyes as he shrugged his arms into the sweater. In the poor light, Powder's riotously-colored darning washed out to a shadowy camouflage around the cuffs and elbows like flashes of unpolished ore emerging from the mud-brown yarn.
"I'm serious. Winter's getting colder every year since they redid the air filters," he said, wrapping his arms across his chest and burrowing his chin further into his scarf as he settled himself next to Vander on the concrete pipe. "Not that I miss the grey, mind, but I'm beginning to understand the topsiders' penchant for hats and gloves and twenty-seven petticoats at a time."
"Oh?" Vander reached over to twine a finger absently through the fringe on Silco's scarf. "Is that why a pallet of Shuriman cashmere shawls fell off the back of an airship straight into the upstairs storage closet?"
"Just reading the market, darling. Remember our deal," he said as he gently unwound Vander's hand and held it in his own. "You don't stick your nose into my perfectly legitimate import-export business, and I don't complain that you still don't put enough bitters in an Old Fashioned."
"I did agree to that, didn't I." He shook his head and settled his hand comfortably on Silco's knee. Wind sighed across the mouth of the reservoir far above, scattering a grace of golden leaves across them. Vander looked up into the branches, one fan-shaped leaf caught against his hair.
It pulled at something in Silco's chest, the thin thread between them that had been cut and re-tied against all better judgment, frayed and worn and haphazardly repaired again and again. Stronger at the mended places, he thought as he plucked the leaf between his fingers and quietly slipped it into his shirt pocket.
He didn't know how long Vander had been here communing with this uncanny vision of his dead child, older and more fully-formed than she'd ever been in life. His girl, his Violet, his fierce little firecracker, and Felicia's and Connol's before that. Never really Silco's. He was an infrequent visitor to their cramped little rooms under the old water tower, while her parents lived. And after? Forgiveness refused to be rushed, it took its own hard-bitten time, and time in Zaun always had casualties.
"She's definitely Connol's work, no mistaking that," he commented as he drew one leg up, perching on the dry moss. "The one on the far left? Tell me that's not exactly the scowl he'd give every scab who walked past us on the picket line."
Vander chuckled and shook his head, a slow smile spreading across his face. "Gods, he was a force of nature, eh? Always the quiet ones."
"Hmm," Silco nodded. "They made an odd pair. I always thought he grounded her a bit. Not always a bad thing." He pressed the side of his leg against Vander's warmth and felt him shift closer.
"Makes you wonder, doesn't it?" Vander gave him a brief sidelong glance. "What else is different over there. Who else might've…" He dropped his head slightly, and his grip on Silco's hand tightened.
"Been spared?" A corner of Silco's mouth contracted, and he squeezed Vander's hand in return. "We were children of Zaun when that meant even odds we wouldn't live to lose our milk-teeth," he said, his voice tempered by something like remorse. "Who knows if any of us survived to see her at that age?"
Vander made a soft grumbling sound in the back of his throat. "The way Ekko talked, sounds like I never did learn to give a good apology. The other Ekko, I mean. Her Ekko." He tilted his head toward the mural.
Silco tucked a strand of Vander's hair behind his ear and saw how the candlelight glimmered in his eyes. "Sounds like I was never smart enough to let you try until you got it right. I would have been a great fool to walk away and leave all this on the table."
His fingers strayed to the back of Vander's neck, warming under the smooth blanket of his hair. Every silver strand still felt like victory to him, a shining thread of resistance against the years of want and days of ash and blood.
Vander leaned into his touch, and his breaths deepened. "That your way of saying it's time to head home?"
"It is where we keep our bed, for better or worse," Silco murmured as he gently scraped his nails over the base of Vander's skull, just to feel him shudder.
Vander turned, placing himself between Silco's legs and sliding his hands slowly and firmly along them, pulling him closer. "Since when did we need a bed?"
Without waiting for an answer, he pressed his lips to Silco's with a gentle familiarity that did little to hide the underlying hunger. Silco clutched at him, hid his hands under the warm wool, strained to twine his calves against the backs of Vander's thighs. The cold air around them seemed to hone every exposed edge, every shirt-hem lifted, every collar drawn aside. It made the warmth of Vander's skin even more precious and ever more urgent.
They kissed like drowning men with something true to live for, lips and tongues a sliding, driven dance, Vander's hand at the small of his back, both increasingly ravenous for the other's heat. Vander bit gingerly at Silco's lower lip as he sucked it into his mouth, and Silco swallowed back the needy sound that threatened to leave his throat. He scraped a fingernail over Vander's nipple through his shirt, provoking a low and blissfully undignified whimper.
Never let it be said that Silco didn't give as good as he got.
Vander's thumb was toying with one of the brass buttons on Silco's trousers, making maddeningly patient little circles that just barely grazed the head of his cock through the stiff twill. "S'alright?" He breathed into Silco's ear, just a shade of hesitation in his words.
Silco's breath hitched, and he put his hand on top of Vander's, stilling them both. In an instant, Vander had gently tilted out of Silco's embrace and propped himself one hip against the mossy concrete, his other hand still resting on Silco's ribcage.
"Happy to take my time, you know," he offered. "You could wear my sweater if you're cold." He couldn't see the tentative smile on Vander's face in the dark, but he could hear it. He couldn't hear the concerned little line between Vander's eyebrows, but he knew it was there.
"No, it's not — it's fine, Vander. It's not you." He leaned forward and tucked his cold fingers under the waistband of Vander's trousers, nodding toward the mural. "I just can't shake the feeling we're being watched."
Vander let out a breath that sounded relieved, and clouded in the air. "Well, I can't say my knees aren't grateful," he said with a subtle lilt of laughter, dragging one heavy boot through the limestone gravel beneath it. He held one hand out, and Silco slid down from the concrete pipe into his arms.
"Don't go making them any promises," Silco said, pressing himself closer, hands flush with Vander's chest. "Plenty of dark and relatively dry alcoves between here and the Drop. You might get your chance yet." He patted one hand in joking reassurance and pulled away with languid steps, heading toward the tunnel mouth.
Vander's answering low laugh was a banked coal, deep in the belly. "Relatively dry, hm?" He clicked his tongue against his teeth. "You really know how to show a fella a good time."
"So you keep telling me," he said, the scars on his cheek straining against the slow, vulpine smile that overtook his face in the dark.
He stood at the edge of the water while Vander put out the candles under the mural, one gentle hand lingering on Vi's painted hair for a moment. Silco might have heard a murmured g'night, love in the gathering dark. He must have heard it. Nothing else explained the swell of sentiment that rose beneath his sternum for a breath.
Vander slung his arm across Silco's shoulders, and they fell into step as they sloshed back toward the tunnel. Its inky depth was broken only by a thin trace of glow-chalk on one wall — Powder's helpful contribution, a new invention she was justifiably proud of. Its light pulsed faintly in time with the hollow sound of their even steps.
And if their youngest cast a skeptical eye at the smear of chalk across the back of Silco's jacket, or looked askance at the mud on Vander's knees before he hid them conveniently behind the bar? Well. There were worse things out there than two old rabble-rousers having a nostalgic fuck in a forgotten corner of the infrastructure.
As Silco stood by the back counter and made them both a proper cocktail, still loose-limbed and supple with fading afterglow, he pondered over all his hard-won blessings. How many did the other Silco have? Useless thought, but there it was.
Had he already died an ignominious, lonely death? Died young? Been cut down in his prime, coughing up blood until he drowned in it, like so many of their comrades from the mines? Lived still, driven by spite and distrust, fighting for every scrap until a violent end became inevitable? It didn't bear imagining. Not standing here in the warm light of the Last Drop, two full glasses in his hands, gazing at his partner's broad back as he pulled another pint of lager.
"There you are, love." He sat one glass on the counter near the taps. "That one's yours."
Vander handed the pints off to Gert with practiced efficiency and picked up his drink, reflexively wiping a wet ring from the counter with the bar towel. Behind him, a table of academy students boisterously toasted Live forever!, leaving a careless shower of suds in their wake.
"Now that's a prayer for bad luck if I've ever heard one," Silco mused, swirling the liquid in his glass.
Vander gave him a thin smile and cast his eyes briefly over his shoulder. "At their age, anything feels possible. Even in Zaun."
Silco rested his drink against his breastbone, looking aside in a satire of shame. "Gods, what am I like. You'll tell me, won't you, if I become one of those hideous old men who can't stop going on about how the younger generation's gone soft? Just say the word, and I'll give Powder a length of piano wire and tell her I hate her haircut."
"Oh, now I definitely won't tell you," Vander replied, his smile broadening into something genuine and bubbling under the surface. "Besides, someone has to teach these young'uns what their city's made of."
Silco raised his glass. "Blisters and bedrock?"
There was a warm shadow in Vander's eyes as he clicked the worn gold rims of their glasses together and returned the age-old toast. He held Silco's gaze longer than usual, looking at him as if he was something Vander couldn't bear to lose, someone he couldn't imagine living without. And for a moment, Silco felt the terrible, dizzying weight of the trust he'd placed in this man. The other Silco — Vi's Silco — would no doubt scoff, and fume about the catastrophic foolishness of his choice. In any other timeline, he'd be right.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," he said.

yes yes and yes !!!
after watching the Daredevil: Born Again trailer from D23, if they really are teaming him and Kingpin together and unleashing Daredevil's darker side, that HAS to mean we'll be getting Felicia Hardy as Black Cat joining them and having Spiderman stop them from wreaking havoc on New York in his next movie, right? RIGHT?!

6. Post-coital snuggles that certainly don’t mean anything.  Between R and Felicia Hardy, Morgana, or Maggie from the Charmed reboot.
(I couldn't decide)
Tumblr media
Felicia Hardy x GN!reader (no pronouns used but male leaning)
“Damn Y/N, you really know how to take care of a girl,” Felicia chuckles, as you kiss along her neck, coming down from her fourth orgasm of the night.
“Well I have Felicia Hardy in my bed, I had to bring my A game,” you tease, leaving one last kiss on her lips before laying down beside her.
You and Felicia have hooked up quite regularly over the years but you agreed that it didn't mean anything, just two people who needed to feed their fix.
Usually this was the part where she would get up to leave, preferring to sleep in her own bed but instead she reached down to grab the sheets and pulled them up over you two.
“What are you doing?” You chuckle.
“What does it look like I'm doing? I'm going to sleep,” she replies playfully.
“You've never stayed the night before,” you tease, “you're not getting soft on me are you Hardy? Or am I just so good in bed you can't stay away?”
“Don't let it go to your head Y/N, there's a snowstorm outside and I don't feel like driving home in this weather,” she laughs, turning over onto her side facing away from you, “and don't think this means I want to cuddle.”
You laugh and soon drift off to sleep, waking up the next morning with Felicia's head on your chest and her arm around your waist.
She shifts slightly, wiping away sleep from her eyes.
“I thought you didn't cuddle,” you tease.
“Shut up, this is purely for warmth because it's so cold,” she huffs quietly before flipping onto her side again, “now do you want to be the big spoon or what.”
You smile and reposition yourself behind her, Felicia fitting perfectly against you.
She sighs contently when your arm goes around her, keeping her close.
Sure, this didn't mean anything at all.

So... we can agree that now with the new context we have, Silco trying to kill Vi in S1 Act 1 is even worse than we originally thought...
Felicia would be so angry with him that's all I have to say

A little rant about Vander and Silco backstory in episode 5
I saw a lot of people saying this two things:
1) The flashbacks are messing up the timeline because Silco couldnt know Vi and Powder before episode 3. Otherwise he wouldnt want to kill them because he knew thier mother and promised her to take care of them (I agree with "messing up the timeline" just not with this reasoning behind it)
2) Silco took Powder in and spare her life because of her mother and thier friendship. He would also spare Vi for same reasons
And I cant agree at all. The whole point of Silco as a character is that he would do anything for Zaun. He wouldnt care about the promise to Felicia if he thought that it blocks his way to achieving his goal. He wouldnt care that he is killing her children If he believes that thier existance could threaten his position and dreams. He totally could know Vi and Powder before betrayal, he could even babysit them or smth. But it didint matter, he was willing to sacrifice EVERYTHING for Zaun. And later he was willing to sacrifice Zaun for Jinx. That's what is so tragic and saying that knowing this children would stop him is just taking away from the beauty of his development and decision to refuse Jayce's offer
About second point, he spare her because she remind him of himself. Also she was young enough to be manipulated and not hate him. She was too young to be a threat and that's what save her. Vi on the other hand was old enough to understand what happened and hate Silco, so she would die regardless of who her mother was
